Last month, I spoke about the importance of being captured and being in your own family pictures. This month, I challenge you to take some self portraits and candid shots with your kids and family. Make this fun! Find an activity that you all enjoy, and capture that moment together. It could be as simple as a trip to the park or a family walk on a Saturday morning. Finally, my last challenge is to PRINT those images and make them into a fun craft that you could also do together if your kids are old enough to help. Actually printing the images that I photograph allows me to see the beauty of my family throughout my home. They help to remind me, especially during the daily chaos and busy schedules, of what is most important in my life, raising a family.
This month's challenge will be to actually capture those moments AND to also be seen in those pictures with your kids. Have one of your kids take turns with the camera or cell phone. Most cell phones have timers now, so use it! You will be amazed at how simple it really is. No excuses this time! Ask a friend or your hubby to take some pictures while you enjoy an activity with your kids. You can make it a playdate with your mommy friend so that you can both take turns taking each other’s pictures. Make it a “Craft and Picture Day” with your friends. Take that time in front of the camera to show behind the scenes shots of what goes on in your home, with all of the good and the bad.

I’ll say it again, NO EXCUSES! You don't have to leave your home or go anywhere fancy to have your pictures taken. Between kids, daily household chores, running a business, and attempting to have a social life, I understand it’s hard to find the time. This is just as important for your own mental health as it is important for your kids to have access to these memories later. So, try to find time for you and the kids. Choose a fun activity that you all love to do together. It can be making pizza, baking cookies, movie nights with popcorn/treats, or just as simple as lounging in your PJ's all cozy under their favorite blankets with cocoa in hand and favorite books. Whatever you decide, make sure to capture those moments together and make it a fun memory for them.
Finally, once the mess has died down, pick your favorite pictures from that day and have them printed. You can use your own printer or you can go to Office Depot. They have plenty of options for you to have photos printed. Below I have shared blog links for some fun craft ideas that you can do with your kids.
These little ornaments are so simple and easy to make. They are super affordable. You and your kids will truly enjoy seeing them displayed around your home. They don't have to be ornaments though. You can use them to hang on the kids’ door knobs, as tie backs for curtains, or you can add a magnet to the back and place them on your fridge.
The photo coasters are my favorite. I made them for my family for Christmas a few years ago and absolutely love how they turned out. I still love seeing them in my home and remembering how small the kids used to be. Regardless of what craft you choose, just be sure to actually PRINT them! Having them printed and visible daily, not just on your phone, will brighten up any gloomy mood and remind you every day of what’s truly important to you in your life. I encourage you to find the time for the things you enjoy!
Enjoy! I hope that you all take the time to Capture & Craft this month!!
